Our company was founded in 1959 by Jim Harms. Working out of an 800 square foot space in South Toledo Jim steadily built a reputation for excellent service and high standards with customers from all over Northwest Ohio.
In 1969 Harms Carpet moved to a 3,200 square foot space in the Colonial Village shopping center at Heatherdowns and Key Street and continued to expand the company. Jim's son Randy joined the company in 1970, and helped his father open a second store on Tedrow Rd. called The Remnant Place.
Eventually the company outgrew the Colonial Village location and moved both stores to it's present location at 1007 Key Street in Maumee. Formerly a grocery store, this new 12,000 square foot location allowed the company to consolidate their showroom, remnants and warehouse all in one space.
In the early 2000's Randy's sons Jake and Steve joined the company marking the third generation of family members to take up the flooring business.
Today after completely remodeling the entire 12,000 square foot space the entire facility on Key Street is devoted to showroom displays. Remnants and warehousing have been moved to the cash & carry spin off store Midwest Flooring Outlet.
Today the company that began as a tiny neighborhood carpet store leads the entire metro area with the biggest selection of carpet, tile & stone, hardwood, laminates, resilient floors, area rugs and more!
